New Hi-Tech Conformal Coating Equipment at Matric

Matric recently added to its ever-growing fleet of technologically advanced electronics manufacturing equipment.  The latest arrival at Matric is a PVA2000, 4-axis conformal coating machine.  The machine is coupled with a twelve-foot infrared curing tunnel, which is in-line and connected via a conveyor. 

The PVA2000 provides a clean, efficient process for applying conformal coating while virtually eliminating labor-intensive masking operations.  Utilizing a controlled atomized spray and a non-atomized flow coating process, the PVA2000 limits conformal coatings to a defined, preprogrammed coverage area.  Film builds as low as 0.01 mm (0.0005”) can be achieved across the desired surface.  The new PVA2000 offers an unparalleled level of precision and speed to the coating process.

The high-tech machine is set apart from other coating machines with its patented fourth-axis technology.  In addition to the traditional XYZ motion, the flow coating valve is mounted on a tilt actuator to allow angled access to the side of components and shadowed areas.
The twelve-foot curing oven can achieve panel temperatures of 500 degrees F.  To enhance the curing process, humidity and carbon dioxide can be infused into the oven.

The system is rounded out with PathMaster, PVA’s exclusive Windows-based programming software that offers an integrated solution for creating coating areas, lines, dots circle and arcs.  Utilizing a remote tech pendant and trackball, an operator can interface with PathMaster and select points to build a program.  CAD data and digital files can also be imported and used to simply click on the desired coverage area, right at the desktop.  FastPath offline programming capability is also installed on the system.
